Empowering Young Women Leaders to Address Gender-Based Violence in the Caribbean

A virtual session of the ParlAmericas Young Women in Leadership (YWiL) Network, held June 11, 2025, on gender-based violence in the Caribbean.

Tajna Lee Shields took part as a member of the Network’s Jamaica cohort, speaking to opportunities for action and advocacy and to strategies for inclusive data collection. The session, convened with UN Women Caribbean and Caribbean Women in Leadership, covered intersecting forms of violence and emerging technological harms, including cyber-harassment, online grooming, and AI-generated explicit content, and how entrenched gender norms and systemic inequality continue to slow progress.
